Fighting through thunderstorms, the Bluegrass Bats finished tryouts with over 80 kids showing up from 14 different schools across the state. The Bluegrass Bats II team had 75 tryout. The teams will begin play June 11 at Big South Challenge, and then Lax-N-ati. Cherry Bomb, Summer Sizzle are also on the list. New head coach Shane Andersen (Bellarmine) and assistant coaches Micahel Anderson (Denver), Ryan Smith (Bellarmine), and Kevin Johnson (Trinity HIgh Goalie Coach) are considered the "new generation of coaches" that bring a dynamic, fun, instructional college speed approach to these elite Kentucky players.
