Answer Depending on the foul the shot will most often count. The officials will usually allow the play to continue and not penalize the shooting team by stopping the play. After the shot then they would stop play. If the shot is missed the penalty would be assessed then. If the shot is made it depends on what the penalty was as to how it would be assessed following a goal.
