As muscles get warm they loosten up which gives them greaty elasticity allowing for a greater range of movement and less chance of strain. Raising the overall body temperature also helps to increase both blood and oxygen flow which prepares the athlete for more rigorous activity. Make sure that your warm up is structured to start slow and steadily increase both heart rate and cardiovascular effort.
